Deer Tick

Deer Tick

Visitors to the Highlands be warned. These little horrors appear to be multiplying year on year. As well as burrowing under your skin and giving a nasty bite which can become infected, ticks which have been feasting on deer can carry and transmit Lyme's disease, a potentially dangerous and debilitating condition from which recovery can take years. These things are only a millimetre in size so, after a walk in the hills, always check yourself and your clothes thoroughly.
