Assynt in Monochrome
Of all my photographs, these are the ones that mean most to me. In them I have tried to portray the county of Sutherland, chiefly my home disrtict of Assynt, in a manner which I hope goes beyond mere physical illustration, that no amount of words or glossy tourist brochures can ever portray. I have tried to describe something that, for those of us fortunate enough to call it home, endures, no matter how much the modern world and its ways encroach.
Most were taken using Kodak infra-red film which records part of the spectrum invisible to the human eye. It is this property which gives the pictures their ghostly, otherworldy appearence.
