Marine Life
Many assume that tropical oceans contain a far richer array of life than the cold and seemingly inhospitble waters of the North Atlantic. In truth, there is a far greater biodiversity here than we see in beautifully filmed documentaries shot in equatorial waters. This gap in our understanding probably stems from the fact that, given the choice, TV crews would rather fly to the South Pacific than Cape Wrath and, while I can't with any honesty say that I blame them, it does probably act as a contributiry factor to our general ignorance of the natural wonders only a few miles from our home. We usually only see what lives off our own shores from what comes up in fishing gear. These are some of the creatures I came across during fifteen or so years of working in what remains of our fishing industry.
