I no longer have a fixed day rate. The nature of modern photography presents too many variables to do so. Every job is priced individually, factoring in elements such as computer time, which can become excessive very easily. Many clients now expect many 100s of shots, not realising that photographers now have to do their own colour processing, albeit electronically rather than chemically. I always advise people to provide as clear a brief as possible.

I always try to give as accurate an estimate as possible. The more thought and input the client applies, the quicker the job and the lower the price.
